Senior Pastor of Mountain of Liberation and Miracle Ministry, popularly known as Liberation City, Chris Okafor, has denied paying a woman to perform a fake miracle on her.
Bose Olasunkanmi, 44, had told reporters after being arrested for controversial healings that she visited the pastor’s church in October 2019 and was called to the altar by the pastor whom she said she had not met before.
Olasunkanmi alleged that she was given N400,000 which she believed was for the supposed (Fake)miracle.
She also said she had worked with several other preachers to stage similar fake miracle with disfigured arm.
However, Pastor Okafor disputed the woman’s claims on Monday through his lawyer, Monday Ubani.
The cleric maintained that the money given to the woman was to empower her in starting a new life.
“The recent story in a national daily and online platforms that the sum of N400, 000 was paid to her for a fake miracle is not true,” he said.
“The lady in question came to church like every other person and the said programme through which she was healed was shown on a live television and there was nothing to hide because it was not only the woman that was healed.
“The church is not new, it’s been in existence over 10 years and the members who keep increasing have experienced the touch of God one way or the other. So there was no issue of arranging any miracle to anybody.”
He added: “We know there are fake pastors and God will expose them so as to exonerate those who are genuinely doing the work of God. I want to put the record straight that Pastor Okafor had never met the woman. She came and told pathetic story that she needed miracle.
The pastor did not know that she was lying. It was when the ministers drew his attention to the videos that went viral that the man of God sent for her. When she said it was poverty, the man of God empowered her and advised her to desist from such act.”
