In spite of police warning that it would not tolerate any protest or demonstrations by any group in Enugu over the detained director of Radio Biafra, Mr. Nnamdi Kanu, some groups suspected to be members of IPOB, MASSOB, Monday embarked on protest in some areas in Enugu metropolis. As early as six o’clock in the morning, some youths, clad in Biafran uniform and brandishing Biafran flags, were sighted at Naira Triangle, Upper Chime, Enugu, it was gathered.
But the Enugu State Police Image Maker, Mr. Ebere Amaraizu, who had previously signed a release indicating the police willingness to prevent such a move, said there was no protest in Enugu metropolis.
“It is not true. There is no protest anywhere in Enugu. We are on the ground everywhere,” Amaraizu said. However, an eyewitness said that he saw the group moving towards Abakpa. “I saw them wearing Biafran clothes and carrying Biafran flags. Somebody told me later that they were moving towards Abakpa from Naira Triangle area,” the source disclosed.
