Imo-Based Journalist Raises Alarm Over Threat To Life

A well known Owerri based Journalist, Ikenna Onuoha has cried to security agents and the general public over serious threat to his life by one Austin Njemanze for reasons best known to him.

The threat is coming few weeks after some practicing Journalists in Imo State were reportedly beaten to stupor by those occupying sensitive positions in the state.

Disclosing this to Journalists in Owerri, Mr. Onuoha expressed surprise that one Austin Njemanze had called him on phone with “0806 2619241” and threatened to track him down within one month.

He said that when he tried to find out what his offense was for him to be killed, Mr Austin Njemanze assured him that his “sins” would be disclosed to him at the point where he would be tracked down, adding that as long as he continues to practice Journalism in Owerri, he would make him to see the pains of life.

According to him, his caller told him that he would first be flogged severely to taste the pain of his life before hacking him down, perhaps at the pool of his blood.

According to him, the caller said on phone, “Hello…are you Ikenna Onuoha?… I am one of the sons of Njemanze (when the Journalist queried him to identify himself), he said; I am Austin Njemanze. We have been following u and your story. The land of Owerri will not accommodate you and us, you can run to anywhere, but I assure you that we shall track you down before one or two months. I know you very well and you shall be made to pay for all you have done”. He assured.

Meanwhile, the Journalist, Mr. Onuoha is drawn the attention of security agents in Imo State, Media Houses, the leadership of Nigerian Union of Journalists (NUJ), Nigerian Institute of Public Relations (NIPR), the Traditional Ruler of Amawom autonomous community, HRH Eze Peter Njemanze, other Royal fathers in Owerri Municipal and the general public that should anything happens to the Journalist, Ikenna Onuoha, the said Austin Njemanze should be held responsible.
